MB2 XBD SE

3-way passive floorstander — PMC SE Series flagship passive. The PMC MB2 XBD SE extends the MB2 SE platform with an additional XBD (eXtended Bass Drive) bass enclosure that increases the effective ATL length and low-frequency output, lowering usable bass extension further than the standard MB2 SE. The unit is supplied with a dedicated plinth and retains the same 12-inch Radial woofer, 75mm PMC75 SE midrange, and 27mm SONOLEX tweeter driver configuration.

Technical background

The MB2 XBD SE pairs the MB2 SE with an additional Extended Bass Dimension (XBD) cabinet, adding a second 12" driver in a dedicated ATL enclosure that extends flat response to 18 Hz. The dual-ATL loading provides bass accuracy and control that no subwoofer-based approach can match, preserving the phase coherence of the main system throughout the bass octaves.
