MB2 A SE
MB2 SE — Self-Powered, Studio-Ready, Zero Compromise
Description ⌄
PMC MB2 SE Active — 3-way active standmount including dedicated stands and amplifiers. 3 way standmount including dedicated stands. Includes 2× PMC control1200, 2× PMC power2400, RC2 remote. Specifiable loudspeaker cable looms included (max 20m per channel).
Technical background
The MB2 A SE integrates four dedicated amplifier channels directly into the MB2 SE enclosure, each driving its respective driver with a DSP-managed active crossover — eliminating the passive crossover network and providing each transducer with precisely controlled power. The result is tighter bass control, lower distortion, and higher SPL capability than any passive version.
Design story
PMC developed the active SE series in response to demand from studios that wanted the reference standard of the SE monitors without the complexity and cost of external multi-channel amplification. Each MB2 A SE is assembled and tested in Luton using the same cabinet and drivers as the passive MB2 SE.
Best for
Professional post-production and mastering facilities requiring a self-powered reference monitor with audiophile-grade midrange and imaging Studios requiring self-powered monitoring without external amplifier infrastructure; mastering engineers wanting simplified signal chains; broadcast facilities Self-powered midfield reference monitoring; studio installation without external amplification; broadcast monitoring
