Lehmann Audio Linear II — upgraded reference headphone amplifier. The Linear II is a refined evolution of Lehmannaudio's acclaimed Linear headphone amplifier, sharing the same fully discrete Class A architecture but incorporating upgraded internal components and Mogami signal wiring as standard. Like its predecessor, the Linear II delivers 400mW into 60Ω and 200mW into 300Ω from a dual-rail power supply with toroidal transformer, with THD below 0.001% and SNR above 95dB. Four selectable gain settings (0/10/18/20dB) accommodate any headphone or IEM, and dual Neutrik outputs support simultaneous two-headphone listening. A preamplifier output enables connection to active speakers. The Linear II is an ideal partner to the Stamp power amplifier for a complete compact hi-fi system. Technical background
The Linear II updates the original Linear's output stage with improved circuit refinement and separate power transformers for left and right channels, reducing inter-channel interference. Balanced 4-pin XLR output is standard alongside the 6.3mm socket, and both RCA and XLR line outputs are provided for loudspeaker system integration.
Design story
The Linear II was developed in Cologne as a natural evolution of the original Linear — preserving the fundamental Class A discrete topology while incorporating improvements in power supply architecture and output stage refinement learned from subsequent product development.
