Drachenfels headphone amplifier with integrated ESS Sabre DAC — S/PDIF and TOSLINK digital inputs. The Drachenfels D adds an integrated ESS Sabre DAC module to the core Drachenfels headphone amplifier platform, bringing high-resolution digital playback to a compact one-box solution. S/PDIF (coaxial) and TOSLINK (optical) digital inputs accept PCM up to 192kHz/24-bit, feeding the ESS technology DAC stage before the discrete analog amplifier section. The analog output stage is identical to the standard Drachenfels — 12dB gain, ALPS Blue Velvet potentiometer, SNR >85dB — ensuring the DAC upgrade adds functionality without compromising sonic purity. Like all Drachenfels variants, the modular chassis allows further expansion modules to be added, and the unit doubles as a preamplifier for active speakers. Dimensions: 160×120×43mm.
