Technical background

The Chord Company PowerHAUS range uses in-house moulded IEC connectors and internal wiring selected for low impedance and minimal RF transmission between outlets. Unlike generic power strips, each PowerHAUS is wired to avoid the capacitive coupling between adjacent mains outlets that is a common source of mains-borne interference between components sharing a distribution block. The M6, S6 and P6 variants differ in their level of passive filtering and the quality of the internal wiring — a direct parallel to the cable range's tiered approach to conductor quality.

Design story

The PowerHAUS range was developed by Chord Company after finding that the quality of the mains distribution block has a disproportionate effect on system performance — acting as the common impedance point for every component in the system. Rather than simply providing more sockets, Chord Company applied the same tiered quality philosophy to PowerHAUS as to the cable range: each tier uses better internal wiring, more effective passive filtering and more carefully specified connectors, providing a measurably cleaner mains environment for the entire system.
