BB5 A SE

PMC BB5 SE Active — 3-way active standmount including stands and amplifiers. The PMC BB5 A SE is the active version of the BB5 SE, integrating multi-channel Class D amplification and an active crossover directly into the loudspeaker cabinet. The active topology drives the 15-inch Radial woofer, 75mm PMC75 SE midrange, and 27mm SONOLEX tweeter independently, maximising control over the drivers and the 4m ATL transmission line.

Technical background

The BB5 A SE integrates 2,400 watts of discrete amplification directly into the BB5 SE cabinet, with an active DSP crossover managing driver integration at each crossover point. The result eliminates passive crossover losses entirely, providing each of the four drivers with dedicated amplification optimised to its individual frequency range and impedance characteristic.

The BB5 A SE represents the convergence of PMC's two most powerful engineering achievements — the BB5 SE cabinet and its ATL technology, and the active amplification and DSP systems developed for the professional broadcast and film monitoring market. Each unit is built to order in Luton.
